Option 1 - Rental Car
Recommended
The quickest way to get to the villa is to drive. We have previously rented a car to drive through Tuscany and plan to do so again. This option would also make it easy to explore surrounding regions before, during, or after your stay.
Our recommendation would be to rent a car in either Rome, Florence, or Pisa. If flying into Rome, you can take an express train (Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa or Italo) to Florence, then rent a car from there. We have previously rented a car from the company Sixt and had a great experience. Please take care to note whether the car you are renting is automatic or manual transmission. The villa has ample parking available for all guests to park on site.
Drive times to Villa Catureglio are as follows:
From Florence: approximately 1 hour
From Pisa: approximately 45-50 minutes
From Rome: approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes
Option 2 - Train & Taxi
Should you not want to rent a car, another option is to travel to the villa via train and taxi. If flying into Rome, we recommend you take the express train to Florence (approximately 1.5 hour journey). Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa has the option to depart from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport via Leonardo Express and arrives in Florence’s Santa Maria Novella station.
From Florence (or Pisa), you can take another train to Lucca where you will transfer to a regional train to reach the town of Borgo a Mozzano. Villa Catureglio is located on a hill above Borgo a Mozzano that is not easily accessible by foot, especially with luggage. If you would like to arrange a taxi pick up from the Boro a Mozzano train station, please contact Macy at (281) 660-4174.
